Alex Kampersal Earns All-America Status at NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships

NORTHFIELD, Minn., March 11, 2006 - Springfield College junior Alex Kampersal (Natick, Mass.) earned All-America status in the shot put competition in this weekend's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.

As a team, the Pride finished in a tie for 40th place out of 74 competing teams as SC compiled a weekend total of four team points. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the team title with an even 78 total points, as Lincoln University finished second (31), Wisconsin Oshkosh finished third (27), Nebraska Wesleyan finished fourth (26), and New Jersey City University rounded out the top five with 24 total team points.

Kampersal, who resides in Natick, Mass., finished in fifth place in the finals of the shot put competition with an impressive toss of 55' 3 1/2" to earn All-America status in the indoor portion of his junior campaign.
