AMHERST, Mass., September 9, 2006 - Springfield College junior Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) captured second place overall out of 45 total runners this afternoon, covering the 5k course in an impressive time of 19:53.0 as the Pride finished in fourth place as a team with a total of 77 points.
Amherst College won the meet with a 19-point team total, as Wheaton College finished second with 71 points, and Merrimack rounded out the top three with 74.
Junior Jess Borsotti (Westfield, Mass.) put up a stong performance for SC in the season's first race, finishing 15th overall and second on the Pride with a time of 20:58.2. Sophomore Lara Dalidowitz (Southington, Conn.) finished third for SC and 22nd overall, as she covered the Amherst, Mass., course in 22:06.3.
Rounding out the top five for the Pride was senior Maureen Ashe (Springfield, Mass.), with a 28th-place finish and time of 23:27.0, and then freshman Emmaleen Lang (Woodstock, N.Y.), with a 35th-place performance in her first career collegiate meet and time of 24:13.6.
SC will next travel to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday afternoon, September 16th.
