



ALBANY, N.Y., October 15, 2005 - Springfield College senior Meg Young (Hurley, N.Y.) took fifth place overall out of 186 competing runners as the Pride ran to a 12th-place team finish in the 39th Annual UAlbany Cross Country Invitational this afternoon (Oct. 15) in Albany, N.Y.
Young covered the rain-soaked course in a personal-best time of 17:54. Pride freshman Lara Dalidowitz (Southington, Conn.) captured 73rd-place in a time of 19:35. Sophomore Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) crossed the line in 82nd-place with a time of 19:46. Senior Jessie Zaccaro (Washingtonville, N.Y.) traversed the course in 20:01 (92nd-place) and junior Jackie Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) concluded SC’s scoring with a 109th-place finish (20:28).
SC scored 335 points to finish 12th in the 23-team field consisting of several Division I teams. UNH won the meet (76), followed by Middlebury College(113) and The College of New Jersey (121).
The Pride’s next meet is the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at Smith College on Saturday, October 29. SC was sixth at the NEWMAC Championships one year ago.

Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
