24 SC Student-Athletes Earn All-Academic Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 15, 2003 - Twenty-four Springfield College student-athletes were named the the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic team for the 2003 spring season.
The 24 SC all-academic selections, which are listed below, ranks third among the NEWMAC's 10 institutions.
The 147 NEWMAC All-Academic honorees have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 after the fall 2002 semester, attained at least sophomore standing, and been the member of a varsity team for the entire season.
Spring sports sponsored by the NEWMAC include baseball, women's crew, women's lacrosse, softball, men's tennis, and men's and women's track and field.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
