Women's Soccer Rolls Past MCLA, 6-1
, Sept. 14, 2004 – Springfield College senior Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.)
scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Pride to a 6-1 victory over Mass. College of Liberal Arts in a non-conference women’s soccer match at Brock-Affleck Field this afternoon.
SC jumped out to a 4-0 first half lead to improve to 2-1-1 this season. Senior Meg McTear (Barre, Vt.)
scored the Pride’s first goal off a feed from Desroches nine minutes into the match. Desroches gave SC a 2-0 lead just over two minutes later, and junior Amanda Nealon (East Falmouth, Mass.)
made it 3-0 at 16:27 off a pass from McTear. With 6:40 to play in the first half sophomore Hallie Vail (Greely, Maine)
added the final goal of the first half.
In the second half, SC senior Jackie Landers (Niantic, Conn.)
and sophomore Courtney Russell (Ilion, N.Y.)
also recorded goals.
SC sophomore Cara Reilly (Lenoxdale, Mass.)
had two assists in the win.
For MCLA, Amanda Bleau scored the Trailblazers lone goal off a penalty kick in 73rd minute.

John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 13th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 152-70-19 record.
