



South Hadley, Mass., October 4, 2005 – Springfield College freshman midfielder Lauren Peltier (Agawam, Mass.) scored her first of two goals in the 12th minute of play to lead the Pride to its second New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory, 5-0, at Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday afternoon in South Hadley, Mass.
Junior midfielder Margaret Mertzic (Barre, Mass.) also notched two goals for SC, including the final goal of the game with 1:17 remaining in the first stanza. Freshman back Delaney Cantrall (Santa Paula, Calif.) contributed to the win with her first career collegiate goal at the 17:58 mark. SC posted eight shots in the first half alone, while limiting Mt. Holyoke to just four.
Pride sophomore Amanda Petri (East Granby, Conn.) recorded four saves for her first shutout of the season, as the keeper improves to 3-2-1 on the season. SC improves its overall record to 5-4-2 on the season and 2-1 in NEWMAC play.
The Pride will next host Babson College in yet another conference match on Saturday afternoon, October 8, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 13th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 152-70-19 record.
