Women's Gymnastics Defeats Cortland, Ithaca and MIT

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., February 8, 2004 – Springfield College freshman
Keriann Hart (Hanover, Mass.) finished first on the uneven bars, while freshman
Heather Tuden (Londonderry, N.H.) finished second in the all-around competition to lead the Pride over Ithaca College, SUNY Cortland, and MIT in a quad meet this afternoon in Blake Arena.
Springfield (6-5) totaled 183.800 points followed by Ithaca (182.125), Cortland (181.600), and MIT (180.575).
Hart, who also finished tied for sixth in the floor exercise (9.475), was credited with a personal-best and team season-high 9.425 to win the uneven bars. Tuden, competing in the all-around for only the second time this season, compiled 36.075 points. Ithaca’s Kelly Stevison finished first with a 36.300 score.
Senior
Jenny Romano-Joseph (Shutesbury, Mass.) finished tied for third on the floor exercise (9.525) and fourth on the vault (9.475), while junior
Jolene Woznicki (Warren, Conn.) placed second on the balance beam with a score of 9.300 for the Pride.
This marked the first time that Springfield had beaten Cortland since 2000. SC also registered its first victory over Ithaca since 1999.
