Springfield College Finishes 15th In NACDA Director’s Cup Standings Ranking The Top Athletic Programs In The Nation
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., June 17, 2005 – Springfield College finished 15th out of 434 institutions in the final National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Directors’ Cup standings, Friday (June 17), which ranks the top Division III athletic programs in the country.
SC has finished in the top-35 in the Directors’ Cup eight times since moving to Division III in the 1995-1996 season, including a 13th-place finish in 1999-2000. Points are awarded for competing in NCAA Tournament play.
The Pride, which totaled 485 points, won conference championships in women’s basketball, field hockey, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s swimming & diving, women’s swimming & diving, wrestling and women’s volleyball. In the NCAA Division III Tournament action, women’s basketball reached the national quarterfinals, and women’s volleyball made it to the round of 16, while field hockey, men’s lacrosse, and women’s lacrosse competed in their respective NCAA Tournaments. Men’s swimming & diving finished ninth, women’s swimming & diving finished 19th, and wrestling was 31st at the NCAA Championships.
NACDA, which is now in its 40th year, is the professional and educational association for more than 6,100 college athletics directors, associates, assistants and conference commissioners at more than 1,600 institutions throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada. Through its series of management seminars, clinics and workshops and publication of the bi-monthly magazine Athletics Administration, NACDA offers educational opportunities to its members. More than 1,200 athletics administrators annually attend the NACDA Convention. Additionally, the Association operates the NACDA Directors' Cup program, which honors the all-sports champion in each of the NCAA Divisions -- I, II, III -- and the NAIA.

Entering her 23rd season as head coach in 2013-14, Naomi Graves has directed her squads to an impressive 323-260 record (.554 winning percentage) since joining the Division III ranks in 1995. Graves has led the Pride to 12 post-season bids in the past 17 years, including five berths in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
