SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 22, 2006 – Senior All-American Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored four goals and added three assists, and sophomore midfielder Steve Krasco (Medford, Mass.) chipped in with three goals and one assist to help the Pride past MIT, 15-6, on Saturday afternoon in Pilgrim Lacrosse League play at Benedium Field.
MIT struck first out of the gate, taking a 1-0 advantage after junior Jonathan Stolmeier scored his lone goal of the game. SC would answer with two goals from a pair of sophomores, Chris Sharpe (Derry, N.H.) and Tyler Monotgomery (Brunswick, Maine), giving the Pride a 2-1 lead in which it would never relinquish for the remainder of the contest.
SC held a close, 5-4 lead with just six minutes remaining third frame when the Pride unleashed eight unanswered goals in just under six minutes (5:51). Brown started off the eight-goal barrage with two quick scores in less than 40 seconds. MIT finally got an answer in the fourth quarter when freshman Dylan Roden scored a goal assisted by freshman Ryan Ballentine, making the score 13-5. SC recorded two more scores, as the Engineers tallied just one more goal the rest of the way for the 15-6 final.
With the win, its fourth straight and seventh of eight overall, the Pride moves to 5-1 in the Pilgrim League and 9-4 overall. The loss drops MIT to 3-4 in the Pilgrim League and 5-5 overall.
