



Complete ResultsJanuary 31, 2009 - In a meet of some of the top competition in New England, the Springfield College men's track and field finished fourth out of five teams on Saturday at the Bowdoin Invitational.
MIT won the meet with 181 points, followed by host Bowdoin (155), Tufts (121), Springfield (89), and Colby (3).
Springfield had a pair of winners in the meet as Steve Headley captured the 55 meter dash in 6.46, while Nickel Hay crossed first in the 400 meter dash in 51.31. Hay also placed fourth in the 200 in 23.32.
Other strong performances for Springfield included Eric Nascin's fourth-place finish in the 600 in a time of 1:24.22, as well as Matt Pearson's second-place finish in the pole vault with a height of 13-09.25. Hendrick Jean also recorded a toss of 44-11.75 in the shot put, good enough for third place.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
