Jennifer Thompson was named the NEWMAC Women's Diver of the Week for the third time this season, while Jack Lewis took home NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Week accolades for the third time as well. Two-time NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Year Kellie Pennington was selected as the NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the first time this year.
Pennington helped the women's team to a fifth-place finish at the Ithaca Invitational thanks to some very strong performances. The Monson, Mass. native automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 50 free with a time of 23.29, and touched first in the 100 freestyle with an NCAA Championship "B" cut time of 50.76.
A product of Cheshire, Conn. product, Thompson excelled on the diving boards for the Pride on Friday and Saturday. The junior had a tremendous showing in the one-meter diving event, winning with a national qualifying score of 446.40. She earlier finished as the runner-up on the three-meter board after totaling a national qualifying score of 453.60.
Lewis helped the men's team to a fourth-place finish at the Ithaca Invitational over the weekend with his diving efforts. In the one-meter diving event, he scored a national qualifying mark 429.75 to finish fourth, while on the three-meter board, the Durham, N.H. product also placed fourth with another national qualifying score of 462.25.
