The Pride has had at least 10 cases of the flu recently, including four at the 149-pound weight class, which caused SC to forfeit at 149.
Now 3-1 overall in duals this season.
In the opening match, SC was led by senior John Archambeau at 165 pounds. Archambeau defeated David Smith of Lycoming, 9-4.
Other winners for SC included senior Eddie Giron at 133, senior Brandon Sundwall at 174, and sophomore Jeremy Burns at 197. Giron won his match, 14-3. Sundwall won his 14-12 in sudden victory, and Burns won his at 9-4.
Springfield had its way against Case Western as it cruised to a 49-0 win, winning all 10 bouts. Jesse Scaglione pinned his opponent in 2:07 at 125, before Giron won by fall in 1:35 at 133. Thomas won by forfeit at 141, leading up to Corey Kozimar's win at 149. Devin Biscaha won by decision at 157 and James Coutoumas cruised to a win at 165. Also winning on the day were Mike Fish at 174, Nick Camera at 184, Burns at 197, and Ron Fusco by pin at 285.
The Pride opened up with a pair of forfeit wins by Thomas and Giron, but Kozimar won by major decision at 141. Archambeau continued to dominate the competition with a win at 165, while Camera and Burns also earned victories to complete the Pride's evening.
