



Springfield, Mass. - March 5, 2013 - Springfield College's Gabby Gaudreault and Amanda Martin will compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Track and Field Championships on March 8-9 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.This will be the first trip to the national meet for both student-athletes.
Gaudreault has had a terrific junior season and will compete in the 800 meter run. Seeded 11th out of 15 runners, the Leominster, Mass. product ran a qualifying time of 2:13.96. The junior is one of four runners from New England in the race, and will compete in the prelims on Friday at 5:40 pm (CST). The finals will take place on Saturday at 3:10 pm (CST).
A sophomore from Bristol, Conn., Martin will compete in the triple jump at this year's NCAA Championships. Her qualifying distance of 11.6 meters ranks her 13th among the 15 jumpers in the event. Martin is one of three jumpers from New England in the event, and will compte on Saturday at 2:00 pm (CST).
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
