



Complete ResultsIthaca, N.Y. - March 10, 2012 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team finished fifth at the ECAC DIII Women's Gymnastics Championships hosted by Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon. First-year Lauren Pocius was honored as the ECAC Rookie of the Year after a standout freshman campaign.
Springfield finished the competition with 181.725 points to place fifth out of seven teams. Cortland claimed the championship with 189.1 points, followed by Brockport (187.6) and Ithaca (186.175). Ursinus (184.7), Springfield, Rhode Island College (175.425), and Wilson (158.85) rounded out the team scoring.
In the vault, Carly Flynn placed fifth with a tally of 9.575, while Pocius also placed fifth in the uneven bars with a 9.500. Both gymnasts finished in the top sixth of an event to earn All-ECAC honors.
In the all-around competition, Pocius finished with a total of 36.475, good enough for eighth.
The Pride will now wait for official word on Sunday to see which individuals officially qualified for the upcoming NCGA National Championships on March 23-24 in Brockport, N.Y.
