Torvi Named NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week Babson Park, Mass. - September 13, 2011 - Senior Lauren Torvi was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week after guiding Springfield to a 4-0 weekend en route to capturing the Johnson and Wales Invitational.

The North Smithfield, R.I. was named the Most Valuable Player of the Invitational as she dominated out of the middle. Torvi racked up 58 kills and 18 blocks in four matches while hitting a sizzling .470.

Torvi started the weekend off with a 12-kill performance in a three-game sweep of Amherst, before dominating Connecticut College with 18 kills while hitting .739 to go along with five blocks. Torvi would later go on to total 13 kills versus JWU and register 15 kills at a .737 clip and nine blocks against Bridgewater St.
