Field Hockey Falls To Mount Holyoke, 2-1
Mount Holyoke 2, Springfield 1
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 14, 2003 – Springfield College sophomore midfielder
Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) scored her third goal of the season for the Pride but Mount Holyoke was too much, defeating SC, 2-1, this evening in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match at Benedum Field.
The Lyons got things started when senior back
Lauren Weiner (Kensington, Md.) scored off a feed from junior midfielder
Tracy Gardner (Athol, Mass.) a mere 1:15 into the game. SC responded when Brooker scored with 20:13 left in the opening frame. Mount Holyoke junior midfielder
Megan Entwistle (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) then found the cage with the game-winner with 8:02 left in the first period.
Springfield goalkeeper and reigning NEWMAC Player of the Week,
Lindsay Pardue (Houston, Texas), made one save.
The Pride falls to 9-6 (4-1 NEMWAC) on the season while the Lyons improve to 9-4 (3-2 NEWMAC).
