Dayton Honored as NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Dayton Earns Weekly NEWMAC Honorsr Babson Park, Mass. - April 1, 2013 - Springfield College's John Dayton was honored as the NEWMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after a strong showing in the Pride's outdoor opener at the Ramapo Invitational.

The Bolton, Conn. native had a great start to the 2013 outdoor season as he recorded the top distance in the hammer throw on Saturday at the Ramapo Invitational. The junior recorded a toss of 54.80m (179-09) to win the event by over 11 feet.

Ken Klatka Ken Klatka, an associate professor of physical education at Springfield College, will enter his 38th season as head coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for an impressive .743 winning percentage.
