Toner Named National Strength & Conditioning Association All-American
, May 14, 2003 – Springfield College senior men’s lacrosse player Peter Toner
was honored as All-American by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
, who hails from Kennebunk, Maine
, was a senior captain who started all 16 of the SC’s games at defense. Toner was selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Second-Team All-Star while finishing second on the team in ground balls (53) and collecting five points on the season. The Pride won their third Pilgrim League title and earned a birth to the NCAA Tournament.
The NSCA recognized 151 student-athletes for their dedication both in and out of the weight room in 2003. Strength coaches from 73 colleges and universities nominated athletes from 19 competitive sport categories. Each coach selected his or her top male and female athlete for this award based on their dedication to strength training and conditioning, athletic accomplishments, academic and personal achievements, community involvement, and leadership qualities.
