



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- September 30, 2008 -- After leading the field hockey team to a pair of victories last week, Emily Murray has been selected as the Division III National Player of the Week by womensfieldhockey.com.Murray, who hails from Boonton, N.J., recorded a goal and two assists on the week as the Pride improved to 5-2 on the season.
In a mid-week non-conference contest against Amherst, Murray tallied the lone goal in the game as the Pride edged the visiting Lord Jeffs, 1-0.
On Saturday in the Pride's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener, Murray led the 20th-ranked Pride to a 4-3 win over No. 17 Babson. Murray dished out two assist in an 11-minute span, including one on the the eventual game-winning goal, as the Pride knocked off Babson.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
