SC Lands 12 On NEWMAC Winter All-Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 1, 2004 – Twelve Springfield College student-athletes were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) WinterAcademic All-Conference Team.

With its 12 selections, SC tied for second with Mount Holyoke in the 10-member conference for the most honorees behind only MIT, which had 31.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2003 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his or her institution, and been a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

Winter sports sponsored by the NEWMAC include: men's swimming & diving, women's swimming & diving, men's basketball and women's basketball.

The NEWMAC is comprised of 10 Division III institutions: Babson, Clark, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke, Smith, Springfield, Wellesley, Wheaton, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
