



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- October 15, 2008 – The Springfield College field hockey team will be hosting Wellesley in a crucial conference contest on Saturday morning, but will have its eye on raising awareness towards breast cancer.The Pride will take on Wellesley in what will prove to be a game with playoff implications on the line. With game time set for 11:00 am on Stagg Field, the two lone undefeated schools in conference play will battle for first place in the league.
Springfield College plans to raise breast cancer awareness in the following way:
* the Springfield College women’s volleyball team will be wearing pink T-shirts during warm-ups
* pink t-shirts will be sold to anyone who would like to benefit breast cancer research
* pink ribbons will be handed out to all fans
* Saturday's game ball will be pink
* the arena will be decorated with signs and pink balloons
* the game program will be pink
Springfield College is requesting fans wear pink apparel to these contests.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
