



Springfield, Mass. -- August 16, 2010 -- The Springfield College football media/photo day is set for Tuesday, August 17 at 1:30 pm at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field on Alden St. Members and coaching staff of the football team, including head coach Mike DeLong, will be taking photos on the field and in the stands for approximately 1 1/2 to two hours. Members of the media are welcome to speak to anyone involved with Springfield College football.

Springfield College football is returning from an 8-2 season in 2009. The Pride finished the year with an ECAC Division III Northeast Bowl Championship by defeating Plymouth State, 42-13, in its final game of the year. SC is beginning its seventh season as a member of the Empire 8 Conference. Last year, SC finished 3-2 and in a tie for third in the Empire 8.
This year, Springfield will be led by senior tri-captains John Carlson (OL), Cody Flanigan (DE), and Joe Myhren (RB), Others who will prominently lead this team include seniors Ken Goodwin (LB ) and Tim Brady (WR), as well as junior Josh Carter, a two-year starting quarterback.
The 2010 football season will begin on Friday, September 3 at 7 pm with a home game versus King's College (Pa.). That will be the first of six home games in the campaign.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
