Cambridge, Mass. - February 19, 2012 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2012 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Sunday evening and finished third out of seven teams with 538 points.
MIT’s men’s team won its fifth straight title, scoring 1,219 points, while the U.S. Coast Guard Academy finished second with 735 points.
Kenny Pancoast was named the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year as he captured the one-meter diving event to complete a sweep of the diving events. Pancoast scored an NCAA A cut mark of 531.95 while his teammate, Jack Lewis took second with a 485.80.
Springfield had three of the top eight finishers in the 200 breast, led by Brad Mills sixth-place finish of 2:13.01. Sean Pennington took seventh in 2:13.98 and Brian Sniffin registered a time of 2:15.98 for eighth.
Josh Ernst recorded a fifth-place finish in the 200 back in 1:55.30, while Nolan Manley touched the wall in the 100 free in 46.97 for seventh-place points.
Springfield's 4x400 relay squad of Scott Mackstutis, Scott Peters, Nolan Manley and Josh Ernst closed out the meet with a second-place time of 3:07.00.
