



Babson Park, Mass. - October 10, 2011 - Springfield College sophomore Kelly Gallo was tabbed the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week after guiding the Pride to its first two conference wins of the season.A local product from Westfield, Mass., Gallo led Springfield with three goals and two assists in three games last week. In Springfield's 6-3 conference win over Smith, Gallo was unstoppable as she racked up three goals and an assist. In Saturday's 1-0 victory at WPI on Saturday, Gallo provided the assist in the game's only goal.
After nine years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe has continued the tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 130-68 record, good for a winning percentage of .656 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
