



WORCESTER, Mass., September 21, 2005 - Springfield College freshman Melissa Weinstein (Allentown, Pa.) and junior Meghan Kelly (Queensbury, N.Y.) won at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, and teamed up for a victory at #1 doubles as the Pride downed New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe, Clark University on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 21), 8-1, in Worcester, Mass.
Both Weinstein and Kelly won their singles matches in straight-sets, with Weinstein winning 6-2, 6-2, and Kelly winning 6-1, 6-2. At #1 doubles, the duo defeated Clark's Emily Slack and Mika Sneedon by a score of 8-1.
The Pride swept through this afternoon's singles matches, as seniors Amy Domurad (Merrimack, N.H.) and Angela Giles (Concord, N.H.) won in straight-set at #4 and #6 singles, repectively. Sophomore Shannon Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.) won a three-set match at #3 singles against Clark's Alycia Weiner by a score of 6-3, 2-6, 10-2. Junior Jenny Cameron (Belfast, Maine) also won a three-set match at #5 singles, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.
SC improves to 2-4 overall on the season and 2-2 in NEWMAC play. The Pride begins a three-game non-conference schedule as SC travels to Rhode Island College tomorrow afternoon, September 22, for a 4:00 p.m. match.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
