Kijanka and Reggio Headed To NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships

Kijanka and Reggio Headed To NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Minneapolis, Minn. - March 5, 2010 - The diving duo of Michelle Reggio and Meghan Kijanka will once again represent Springfield College as they have both been chosen to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Minnesota on March 17-20.

Only four schools in the country on the women's side had multiple divers qualify for the Championships. Other than Springfield, Ithaca College, Calvin, and Trinity (Texas) each have two divers entered the meet. Overall, there are 22 divers entered in both the one and three-meter diving events.

Several weeks back when the Pride won its 10th-consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, both Kijanka and Reggio made a big impact. On the three meter, Reggio finished second (449.65) and was followed by teammate Kijanka in third (438.50). They had similar results on the one-meter as Reggio took second with a mark of 452.15, while Kijanka placed third with a 434.25.

These two are no stranger to succeeding at the national level as both saw a great deal of success last season at the NCAA's. A year ago, on the three-meter board Kijanka placed 10th out of 22 divers, while Reggio followed her with an 11th place finish as both earned Honorable Mention All-American honors. On the one-meter, Reggio was named an All-American in the diving competition as she placed seventh in the country, while Kijanka picked up Honorable Mention All-American honors as she finished in ninth.
