



Springfield, Mass. - January 28, 2009 - After a breakout performance last weekend in a tri-meet with Southern Connecticut and Rhode Island College, Springfield College freshman Carly Flynn was named the ECAC Rookie Woman's Gymnast of the Week.Flynn, who hails from Franklin, Mass., competed in the all around for the first time last week and performed consistently in all four events. She had a personal best on vault 9.3 (sixth place), uneven bars 8.75 (sixth place), and floor 9.475 (ninth place). Her all around score of 36.40 placed her second in the tri-meet. Her performance helped the team earn their highest score of the season, a 180.68.



Cheryl Raymond, who will be entering her 33rd year as women's gymnastics coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College in 2012-2013, is one of the top college coaches in the region. Read more.
