10 Student-Athletes Named To NEWMAC Men’s Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team

Alex Fallon Babson Park, Mass. - April 29, 2009 - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009 Men’s Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team and 10 student athletes from the Springfield College men's track and field team were selected.

Matthew Amendola, Thomas Brognano, Stephen Creamer, Alexander Fallon, Brian Fuller, Michael Griffin, Justin Ludwig, Christopher Malia, Christopher Quetant, and William Regan were all recognized for their efforts in the classroom.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2008 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Ken Klatka Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage.
