In the consolation bracket, Poloskey fell to Augsburg's Jamie Tidwell, 13-9, before again beating Kapraun, 8-7, by decision.

SC's other entrant in the championships, senior Bill Ivatts (Foxboro, Mass.), was making his second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships at 149 pounds. Ivatts lost to Wartburg's Bart Mehlert, 9-0, then fell to Loras' Chris Vogel in the consolation bracket.
