



Boston, Mass. - October 8, 2011 - The Springfield College women's cross country team competed in the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park. The Pride finished the race comprised of teams from all three NCAA Divisions in 37th place.Boston College won the event with just 38 points after placing three runners in the top five. Springfield finished the race with 1,093 points to finish in 37th out of 39 teams.
The Pride's top finisher on the afternoon was Nora Letendre, who ran the course in 20:45. Sissell Holloway was Springfield's next top runner with a 21:28, followed by Sarah Knop who totaled a time of 21:33. The final two scores from Springfield came from Katie Burns (21:42) and Erica Fisher (21:51).
Springfield will run in the UAlbany Invitational this upcoming Saturday.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
