



Starkville, Miss. - October 25, 2012 - The Springfield College softball team was honored for its academic success and was selected as a 2012 NFCA Division III All-Academic Team. Among the 400-plus Division III softball programs across the country, the Pride had the third-highest grade point average in the nation last season.Last season, the Pride owned a GPA of 3.57, tied with Washington University of St. Louis for the third-best in the nation. Fontbonne University's 3.595 was tops in the nation, followed closely by MIT's 3.589.
On the field a season ago, Springfield owned a 25-16-1 record and was led by NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year, Ashley Marino, and NEWMAC Coach of the Year, Julie Perrelli.

Julie Perrelli enters her fourth season at the helm of the Springfield College softball program and as an assistant professor of physical education. In her first three seasons in the dugout for the Pride, Perelli has guided Springfield to two NEWMAC Championship title games. Read more.
