



Springfield, Mass. - January 24, 2011 - For the fourth time this season, Brian Sobel was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Diver of the Week after another solid performance on the diving boards over the weekend.Sobel, who hails from Stratford, Conn., cruised to victory in the diving competition in Springfield's dual meet at Williams on Saturday. The senior continued to dominate the competition as he won the one-meter with a score 320.48. In the three-meter, Sobel distanced himself from the pack with a score of 349.80.
The award also marked the sixth time this season that a member of the Springfield men's diving team has been honored by the NEWMAC. Other than the four times Sobel has been selected, teammates Brooks Farrar and Kenny Pancoast have also earned the weekly recognition.

John Taffe enters his 24th season in 2012-2013 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
