



Springfield, Mass. - November 4, 2009 - Both Amanda DiPaolo and Lacey Cartier earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference honors after their performances at the championship race last Saturday.After guiding his Wellesley squad to a runner-up finish at last weekend’s NEWMAC Championship, John Babington was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year. Babington’s Blue also received the league’s Sportsmanship Award. At Saturday’s NEWMAC championship, a pair of MIT runners swept the individual accolades. Top overall finisher, Maria Monks, was named the NEWMAC Runner of the Year while teammate Brooke Johnson earned Rookie of the Year honors.

Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
