Women's Volleyball To Host Tom Hay Invitational While Raising Awareness For Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer Awareness SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- October 6, 2008 – The Springfield College women’s volleyball team will be hosting the annual Tom Hay Invitational this weekend in Blake Arena with a different twist as the Pride will have its eye on raising awareness towards breast cancer.

The Pride will take on Westfield State at 5:00 pm on Friday before squaring off versus Roger Williams at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, the Pride will take on local-foe Western New England at 9:00 am and challenge Plymouth State in a 3:00 pm match.

Springfield College plans to raise breast cancer awareness in the following way:
* the Springfield College women’s volleyball team will be wearing pink T-shirts during warm-ups
* pink t-shirts will be sold to anyone who would like to benefit breast cancer research
* pink ribbons will be handed out to all fans
* the arena will be decorated with signs and pink balloons
* the tournament’s game program will be pink
* live stats available on-line for all four of the Pride’s games, will be featured mainly in pink

Springfield College is requesting fans wear pink apparel to these contests.
