



Babson Park, Mass. - May 4, 2011 - 19 members of the Springfield College women's track and field team were recognized for their academic achievements by being named to the 2011 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference Team.Springfield's 19 selections were the most by any institution in the conference. The Pride's honorees included Colleen Brague, Katherine Burns, Lacey Cartier, Kelly Curtis, Allison Dalton, Nicole DeCristoforo, Rhian Duggan, Kaila Harpin, Sissel Holloway, Laurie Jenkins, Michelle Mirti, Julie Moise, Amanda Mullen, Kelly Murphy, Mary Parshley, Desiree Perry, Maeve Powell ,Vanessa Rosario, and Kathryn Schumann.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2010 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
