Men's Tennis Downs Coast Guard, 5-2
Springfield, Mass., April 17, 2004 - Springfield College junior
Richard Aseltine (Tyngsboro, Mass.) won at #3 singles and #3 doubles to lead the Pride to a 5-2 victory over Coast Guard in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s tennis action today on Appleton Courts.
Sophomore
Justin Freitas (East Providence, R.I.) helped the Pride to its third win in four matches by winning at #2 doubles with senior
Chris Sweeney (Wakefield, Mass.). Both Freitas and Sweeney went on to win their #4 and #5 singles matches, respectively.
For Coast Guard, sophomore Matt Nakagawa won at #1 singles and doubles. Sophomore Cheryl Hickey won at #2 singles and teamed up with Nakagawa to win their #1 doubles match.
The Pride improves to 4-5 (3-2 NEWMAC) while the Bears fall to 1-9 (0-4 NEWMAC).
