Bartholomew, Stark Named Men’s Swimming and Diving Captains
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., June 27, 2002 – Springfield College swimming coach
John Taffe named seniors
Dan Bartholomew and
Aaron Stark co-captains for the 2002-03 season.
Bartholomew, a resident of Willits, Calif., finished first on the three-meter dive at 2002 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship (Mar. 3) and was a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championship with a score of 397.95. Under the direction of diving coach
Peter Avdoulos, Bartholomew was also named an all-conference selection in the event. Dan is a physical therapy major.
Starting, a native of Monroe, Conn., enters his fourth season this fall. Stark was one of the top distance and butterfly swimmers for SC. The elementary education major will add depth, leadership, and experience to a young team.
Springfield College finished with a 3-9 record last season and finished third at the NEWMAC Championships.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos

Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 28th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012-2013. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
