Men's Track and Field Takes Fourth and Bowdoin Quad

Brunswick, Maine - January 19, 2013 - The Springfield College men's track and field team opened up the second semester competing at the Bowdoin Quad on Saturday, finishing fourth among a very strong field.

Host Bowdoin won the meet with 200 total points, followed by RPI's 159 points. Tufts ended the day with 108 points, while Springfield took fourth with 81 points.

Tim Johansmeyer was a double winner for the Pride as he claimed the triple jump after posting a distance of 43-03.00, and was victorious in the long jump with a 20-10.75.

John Dayton continued his tremendous year as he produced a winning heave in the weight throw with a mark of 59-03.00. In addition, Anthony Salvucci won the 5,000 meters in a time of 15:24.37.

Adam Swartout was the runner up in the 60 meter dash after the crossing the finish line in 7.33. In the 400, Ryan Gower placed fourth in 53.14, followed closely by Walker Smith's fifth-place time of 53.30.

Gower also placed fifth in the 200 in 24.13.

The Pride had three finishers in the top six in the high jump, led by Sam Baker's second-place height of 6-02.00. Nicholas Salvucci also jumped 6-02.00, while William Ferguson took sixth with a 6-00.00.

Also, Springfield's 4x400 relay recorded a second-place finish in 3:30.77.

Springfield will be back in action next Saturday when it hosts Coast Guard, Trinity, ECSU, Amherst, Westfield State, WPI, RPI, St. Lawrence, and Keene State.
