Springfield snapped its three-game skid to improve to 3-3 on the year. Keene State lost for just the first time this season and they fall to 3-1. Both teams were among those teams receiving votes in this week's USILA National Coaches Poll.
The game was tied at five after three quarters of play, but the Pride outscored the Owls 4-1 in the final 15 minutes of play.
Johnson was spectacular in his homecoming as the Orlando, Fla. native continued his impressive offensive output. After combining for four goals in the opening four games, Johnson has now tallied six goals an an assist in the Pride's last two outings.
Shane Ferguson broke out of his slump to pump in a hat trick out of the midfield for the Pride, while Mike Delia and Harry Bernstein each found the back of the cage once.
Connor Nash earned the win between the pipes for the Pride, coming up with timely stops in the second half to keep the Owls at bay.
At the face-off "X", Mark Eaton and Branden Fernandez split time as the Florida heat took its toll on the players.
Springfield will now prepare to take on Bowdoin on Wednesday, April 30. The game will be played in Exeter, N.H.
