Softball Splits Opening Day of Rebel Games

Kissimmee, Fla. - March 15, 2009 - The Springfield College softball team opened up the 2009 season with a 3-1 win over Carthage in its opening game of the 2009 Rebel Games. The Pride then dropped its second game of the day as it fell to Ramapo, 6-1.

Springfield, which captured the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament title last season, was led by Samantha Rhodes. Rhodes, a NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection last season, picked up the decision on the mound in the win over Carthage. Sophomore Katie Anderson suffered the loss in the game against Ramapo.
