



New Orleans, La. -- August 9, 2011 -- A total of five Springfield College female tracksters have been named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Scholar Athletes for the 2010-2011 academic year. They include Colleen Brague, Kelly Curtis, Laurie Jenkins, Kelly Murphy, and Kathryn Schumann.Brague, a recreation management major of Smithfield, R.I., just completed her sophomore year. Curtis, a sport management major from Princeton, N.J., just finished her junior campaign. Jenkins, a physical education major from Columbia, Conn., just finished her sophomore season. Murphy, an English/elementary education double major from Mechanicville, N.Y., just finished her junior season. And Schumann, a physical education major from Cromwell, Conn., just completed her senior campaign.
In addition, Springfield College was also named USTFCCCA All-Academic as a team for the 2010-2011 year.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
