Six Men's Gymnasts Compete In Second Day of USAG Championships



Annapolis, Md. - March 22, 2014 - Six Springfield College men's gymnasts competed in the individual portion of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championship on Saturday afternoon.

After Friday's team competition, the top eight gymnasts in each event competed on Saturday. The top six finishers on Saturday earned All-America honors for their efforts.

Ryan Ponce (Tolland, Conn.) was the runner-up on the rings after registering a 15.525.

On the floor exercise, Springfield had a pair of All-America honorees as Tucker McClure (San Jose, Calif.) finished fourth with a 14.800 and Jon Zirna (Buffalo, N.Y.) placed sixth after scoring a 13.500.

Pat Ryther (Boston, Mass.) took seventh on the pommel horse with a 12.975, as did McClure in the vault (13.850), and Andy Grabowski (Victor, N.Y.) on the high bar (13.650). Sam Docherty (Upton, Mass.) placed eighth on the parallel bars with a mark of 13.475.

Springfield will again make the trip south to Navy next weekend for the ECAC Championships.
