



ONEONTA, N.Y., January 6, 2007 - Springfield College senior tri-captain Paul McCloskey (Brookfield, Conn.) captured the 100 free (49.34), the 500 free (4:52.53) and the 1,000 free (10:17.25) as the Pride defeated Union College, 162-79, and was edged by host Hartwick College, 122-119, in a tri-meet this afternoon at Moyer Pool.
Another individual winner for SC in the swimming events was freshman Ryan Mackstutis (Torrington, Conn.) with a time of 2:18.95 in the 200 breaststroke event. With the split in today's meet at Hartwick, the Pride moves to 3-4 overall on its 2006-2007 campaign.
First-year Matt Fitzgerald (Pelham, N.H.) captured first place in the three-meter dive with a final tally of 216.15 points, as classmate Jonathan Alberghini (Cumberland, Maine) also took home a first-place performance, but on the one-meter board with 215.65 points.
Next up for SC in the '07 portion of its schedule will be when it hosts New York University (NYU) this Saturday afternoon, January 13th, in a 1:00 p.m. start at the Art Linkletter Natatorium.
