Women's Cross Country Takes 11th at UMass Dartmouth

Abby Wright North Dartmouth, Mass. - September 21, 2013 - The Springfield College women's cross country team placed 11th at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. Abby Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) ran a 20:07 to finish 45th as the top finisher for the Pride.

Rowan took the team title after totaling 45 points, followed by Brandeis (51) and Keene State (113). Wheaton (162) and Trinity (194) rounded out the top five in a field of 29 squads.

Right behind Wright was teammate, J'aime Giaccone(Enfield, Conn.), who tallied a time of 20:10 to place 47th.

Sarah Knop (Eastham, Mass.) and Emily Rund (Enfield, Conn.) crossed the finish line together, with times of 20:41 and 20:43 respectively, to finish 71st and 72nd.

Elizabeth Footit (Wilbraham, Mass.) was Springfield's fifth finisher on the afternoon and ran a 20:55 to take 80th.

Next Saturday, the Pride will run in the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Mass.
