Wellesley, Mass. -- September 10, 2012 -- Anthony Salvucci of Springfield College has been named this week's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference men's cross country runner of the week.A junior from Burlington, Mass., Salvucci ran first among 110 runners in the Smith Invitational cross country meet on Saturday in Northampton, Mass. He ran a time of 26:47.20.
He led his team to a second-place finish among 10 teams with 54 points, trailing only WPI's 48 points. Salvucci's time was 13 seconds better than second-place finisher Hayden Bunnell of Colby-Sawyer (27:00.63).
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
