SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 11, 2003 – Springfield College junior forward
Leeann Morris (Sutton, Mass.) scored twice as the Pride downed Westfield State, 3-0, in a non-conference match at Brock-Affleck Field this afternoon.
Morris netted her first goal of the afternoon off a cross from senior midfielder
Laura Harwood (Longmeadow, Mass.) at 38:15. SC junior forward
Jessica Kovacs (Dalton, Mass.) blistered a shot past the Westfield keeper six minutes into the second period to give the Pride a 2-0 advantage. Morris again found the back of the net at 71:03 off a well-placed lead pass from Kovacs to cap the scoring.
SC sophomore keeper
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) made four saves in 74 minutes en route to her second win of the season before being replaced by freshman
Lila Sussman (Weston, Conn.). Davis’s effort extends her season-opening shutout streak to 274:00 minutes.
