



Springfield, Mass. -- November 15, 2010 -- The Springfield College football team has finished second in the season-ending New England Division III Football Coaches Poll, released earlier this afternoon. Unbeaten Williams finished first with 21 of the 22 first-place votes.Williams finished 8-0 as a team, the only unbeaten in New England Division III. The Ephs totaled 209 points and received 21 first-place votes.
Springfield, at 8-2, was next with 177 points. Trinity, at 7-1, was third with 167 points, and the lone remaining first-place vote. Endicott (9-2), NCAA-bound, was fourth with 153 points. And the team Endicott beat in the NEFC Championship game, Maine Maritime (8-2), was fifth with 108 points
The next five included Amherst (6-2) with 105 points, Framingham State (8-2) with 84 points, Norwich (8-2) with 68 points, Western New England (8-2) with 63 points, and Salve Regina (6-4) with 14 points.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
