



Box ScoreBridgewater, Mass. -- November 19, 2011 -- Senior guard Kelly Murphy scored 17 points and freshman forward Jaimie Bickelhaupt added 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Springfield College women's basketball team to an 82-43 victory over Thomas College in the consolation of the Bridgewater State Invitational Tournament this afternoon . With the win, the Pride is now 2-1.
Freshman Hannah Ebling added eight points (4-for-8 from the floor), and junior center Emily Walker tallied six points and added 11 rebounds, two assists, and one block.
SC led 46-26 at the half, and then outscored Thomas , 36-17, in the second half.
"It was a game where all 14 players played," said Head Coach Naomi Graves. "I was especially pleased with the way we shot the ball from the floor -- 61% in the first half, and 51% for the game."
Murphy also had three rebounds and two assists to go with her numbers. Plus she was 6-for-11 from the field, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range, in 24 miinutes. Bickelhaupt also went 6-for-8 from the floor, had three assists, and five blocks in 22 minutes. Andrea Butler also had seven assists and seven steals in 23 minutes.
SC out-rebounded Thomas, 40-32. Thomas was held to 26.7% from the floor.
Up next, the SC women will travel to Williams to play Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 5:30 pm.
Entering her 23rd season as head coach in 2013-14, Naomi Graves has directed her squads to an impressive 323-260 record (.554 winning percentage) since joining the Division III ranks in 1995. Graves has led the Pride to 12 post-season bids in the past 17 years, including five berths in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
