Women's Track and Field Shines at Harvard Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., December 12, 2005 -- Springfield College freshman
Silvienne Krosendijk (Seroe Biento, Aruba) took second place in the long jump as many men’s and women’s track and field athletes performed well in non-scoring competition, featuring Division I, II, and III teams at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, December 10.
Krosendijk’s leap of 5.60 meters (18 feet-4 ½ inches) was second overall and first among all Division III athletes. The leap provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III National Championships in March. Pride freshman
Amy Walter (South Burlington, Vt.) took sixth in the triple jump with a 10.21-meter (33’-6”) jump. SC junior
Rachael Disaia (Waterford, Conn.) took sixth place in the weight throw with a 43'-2 ½" toss.
In the running events, junior
Alyssa Brigham (Penacook, N.H.) was the first Division III runner across the line in the mile run as she took fourth place overall with a time of 5:22.73. Pride senior
Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) crossed the line fifth in the 60-meter dash in 8.06 seconds. SC’s 4 x 400-meter relay team of senior

Eva Gibson-Mueller (Ipswich, Mass.), and sophomore
Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) took third place in 4:11.35.
On the men’s side, Pride junior
Alex Kampersal (Natick, Mass.) won the shot put competition with a 16.11 meter hurl. SC sophomore
Dominic Uguccioni (Colrain, Mass.) placed fourth in the weight throw (47'-6 ½") while fellow sophomore
Nick DeCelle (Mechanicville, N.Y.) grabbed fourth place in the long jump (21'-7 ¼").
On the track, Pride junior
Tetsuji Kambara (Osaka, Japan) crossed the line second in the 5,000-meters with a time of 14:54.82. Freshman
Eric Nacsin (East Longmeadow, Mass.) ran 1:59.07 in the 800-meter race to finish third. Senior All-American
Bill King (Wilmington, Mass.) blazed the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.07 seconds to finish fourth in the meet.
SC’s next competition is the Coast Guard Invitational in New London on January 21.
