



Lexington, Ky. - March 9, 2010 - The Springfield College men's volleyball team is now the top-ranked team in the country according to this week's AVCA Division III Men’s Top 15 Coaches Poll. Springfield, which was ranked third in the country last week, vaulted up the standings after defeating the number one team in the country, Juniata College, in four games last Friday.
The Pride received 11 out of a possible 16 first-place votes en route to a total of 230 total points. UC Santa Cruz stayed idle at No. 2, earning four first-place votes, while the Eagles from Juniata College slipped to No. 3, despite earning one-first place vote. Baruch College and Vassar College rounded out this week's top five.
After starting the year ranked second in the AVCA Preseason Poll, Springfield has never slipped below third in the country as it spent six weeks ranked third and another week as the second-ranked team in the nation.
Springfield will be in action on Tuesday evening when it travels on the Mass Pike to square off against Harvard in a non-conference tilt.

With seven national championships to his credit, Charlie Sullivan will enter his 15th season as head coach of the men's volleyball team in 2013. In 14 previous years at the helm, Sullivan owns an overall record of 224-155 for a .591 winning percentage. Read more.
